Lorna S. Pham, MA, Psy.D
Dr. Lorna Pham has over seventeen years of experience in the behavioral healthcare field. She received her Doctor of Psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, which she is also an adjunct professor for the Forensic Psychology Program. She obtained her Master’s in Psychology at Pepperdine University and Bachelor’s in Sociology at the University of California, Riverside.
She has worked with various populations in behavioral health including clients with intellectual disabilities, adolescents and adults with co-occurring disorders, and forensic.
She is an expert legal consultant for numerous behavioral health cases, specifically in the substance abuse residential facilities. Dr. Pham has held various professional roles in the Behavioral Health industry in both for profit and non-profit sectors. Her roles include: Residential Counselor, Case Manager, Quality Assurance Director, Vice President of Quality Assurance, Director of Outpatient, and Adjunct Professor.
Her ability to understand state regulations, insurance medical necessity requirements, accreditation requirements and behavioral health licensing regulation is what makes her a well sought out legal expert and consultant in this field. She has helped prevent approximately more than 10 million dollars from insurance recoupment. She has trained well over 500 clinicians and case managers in proper documentation guidelines based on medical necessity, reviewed and audited over 1000 clinical charts, and has increased audit compliance by 90%.
She assists behavioral health organizations in accreditation and re-accreditation and state licensing/certification. And has built a solid reputation with the accreditation body and the state.
Dr. Pham is a passionate advocate for the Asian Pacific Islander (API) community, helping to destigmatize the subject of mental health and substance abuse. She was a presenter for the Cultural Competency and Mental Health Summit XVIII in San Diego, California and Cultural Competency Summit XX in Santa Rosa, California.
